My wife and I have been running an Etsy shop this year and our success has been far beyond what we ever imagined. Many of the other handmade sellers we know want to know how we did it… so that’s what I’ll be writing about here. This isn’t my first time growing a product line or a business, so I have a good bit of information to share.
I have a theory of marketing that I’d like to share.
A successful business has three areas in which it does well:
- Product-Market Fit – Does the product meet the needs/wants of a specific group of people and is it different from everything else in a way those people find appealing?
- Market Communications – Can people find the product (intentionally or accidentally) and do they like what the business have to say (and the way it’s said/shown)? (this includes your photos, logos, product descriptions, and so on)
- Business Operations – Does the company have efficient production and administrative practices?
In the coming months, I’ll be writing more about all kinds of business and marketing topics, and they will fit within this framework. Most of all, I want to make each post actionable, so you can apply what you learn right away.
In the new year, I plan on releasing a detailed course on each of these topics… but we’ll talk more about that later.
For now, welcome to WaltzWorks!
